Prayer Before Using the Internet

A prayer for watchfulness, purity of attention, and wise use of time online.

O Lord our God, Creator of the spiritual and material world, Who made mankind and granted us knowledge of hidden wisdom, that we might glorify Thy name.

Thou art in the heights and in the depths; the night and the day are Thine, and not even the fleeting movements of our thoughts are hidden from Thee.

Now I pray Thee: preserve me from every sin as I begin to use this complex work of human hands, which reaches to all the ends of the earth.

Guard my eyes and my mind from every impure and beguiling image, and from empty and needless words.

Strengthen my will, purify my heart, and let me not waste the time of my life; deliver me from carelessness and despondency.

May our works be to Thy glory!
