Paschal Hours
Through the prayers of our holy fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us. Amen.
Paschal Troparion:
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life. (Three times)
Having beheld the Resurrection of Christ, let us worship the holy Lord Jesus, the only sinless One. We worship Thy Cross, O Christ, and Thy holy Resurrection we hymn and glorify. For Thou art our God; we know none other besides Thee; we call upon Thy name. Come, all ye faithful, let us worship Christ’s holy Resurrection, for behold, through the Cross joy hath come to all the world. Ever blessing the Lord, we hymn His Resurrection, for having endured crucifixion, by death He destroyed death. (Three times)
Hypakoe:
The women who came with Mary before dawn, finding the stone rolled away from the tomb, heard from the angel: “Why do ye seek among the dead, as though He were a man, Him Who dwelleth in everlasting light? Behold the grave-clothes; hasten and proclaim to the world that the Lord is risen, having slain death, for He is the Son of God Who saveth the race of mankind.”
Paschal Kontakion:
Though Thou didst descend into the tomb, O Immortal One, Thou didst destroy the power of Hades; and Thou didst rise as victor, O Christ God, saying unto the myrrh-bearing women, “Rejoice!” and granting peace unto Thine Apostles, Thou Who grantest resurrection unto the fallen.
In the tomb bodily, and in Hades with Thy soul as God, in Paradise with the thief, and on the throne with the Father and the Spirit wast Thou, O Christ, filling all things, uncircumscribed.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit:
As life-bearing, and truly more beautiful than Paradise and brighter than any royal chamber, Thy tomb, O Christ, hath been shown to be the source of our resurrection.
Both now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen:
Rejoice, O sanctified and divine dwelling of the Most High! For through thee, O Theotokos, joy is given unto those who cry: Blessed art thou among women, O all-immaculate Lady.
Lord, have mercy. (40 times)
When the Paschal Hours are used as a prayer rule, a commemoration list may be added here.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
More honorable than the Cherubim and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, who without corruption gavest birth to God the Word: thee, the true Theotokos, we magnify.
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life. (Three times)
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Thy most pure Mother, our venerable and God-bearing fathers, and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.
