Matins
And if it is the Great Lent, we begin the Trisagion, without bowing:
Trisagion. Glory, and now: Most Holy Trinity: Lord, have mercy. (three times) Glory, and now: Our Father: Priest: For Thine is the kingdom: Reader: Amen. Lord, have mercy. (12 times) Glory, and now: Come, let us worship: (three times)
If there is no Great Lent: Come, let us worship: (three times)
Psalm 19
May the Lord hear you in the day of sorrow, may the name of the God of Jacob protect you, may He send you help from the sanctuary and may He support you from Zion. Let him remember all your sacrifice, and let him make your burnt offering fat. May the Lord give you according to your heart, and may He fulfill all your counsel. We will rejoice in your salvation and will be magnified in the name of the Lord our God. May the Lord fulfill all your requests! Now I know that the Lord has saved His anointed: He will hear him from His holy heaven; in power is salvation at His right hand. These are on chariots, and these are on horses, but we will call on the name of the Lord our God. These stumbled and fell, but we stood up and straightened up. Lord, save the king and hear us on the day when we call on You.
Psalm 20
Lord, in Your power the king will rejoice, and he will greatly rejoice in Your salvation. You gave him the desire of his heart, and what his lips asked for, You did not deprive him of. For You met him with good pleasure and placed a crown of precious stones on his head. He asked You for life, and You gave him long life forever and ever. Great is his glory in Thy salvation; You will place glory and splendor on him, for You will give him a blessing forever and ever, You will make him glad with joy before You. For the king trusts in the Lord, and by the mercy of the Most High he will not be shaken. May Your hand overtake all Your enemies, may Your right hand find all those who hate You. For You will make them like a fiery furnace at the time of Your appearing: the Lord in His anger will trouble them and consume them in fire. Thou shalt destroy their fruit from the earth, and their seed from among the sons of men. For they have brought evil upon You; they have conceived plans that they cannot fulfill. For You will turn them back, the remnant of Your arrows You will direct at their face. Be exalted, O Lord, in Your power! We will sing and praise Your might.
Glory, and now: Trisagion. Glory, and now: Most Holy Trinity: Lord, have mercy. (three times) Glory, and now: Our Father: Priest: For Thine is the kingdom: Reader: Amen.
And troparia
Save, O Lord, Your people / and bless Your inheritance, / granting victories over your enemies / and preserving Your people by Your Cross.
Glory: Ascended to the Cross voluntarily, / grant to the new people named after You / Your mercies, O Christ God; / make your faithful people glad with your power, / giving them victories over their enemies, / - may they have help from you, / a weapon of peace, an invincible sign of victory.
And now: Terrible and shameless protection, / do not despise, O Good One, our prayers, all-glorified Mother of God, / establish the Orthodox people, / save Thy faithful people and grant them victory from heaven, / for Thou hast given birth to God, the only blessed One.
Priest: Have mercy on us, O God, according to Your great mercy, we pray to You, hear and have mercy.
We respond to every petition: Lord, have mercy. (three times)
We also pray for our Holiness Patriarch , and for His Eminence Metropolitan (or: archbishop, or: bishop) our , and for all our brotherhood in Christ.
We also pray for our God-protected Russian country, for all its people and authorities, that we may lead a quiet and serene life in all piety and purity.
We also pray for all the brethren and for all Christians.
Exclamation: For You are a merciful and loving God, and to You we ascribe glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and always, and unto the ages of ages.
We: Amen. Bless in the name of the Lord, father.
The priest, depicting a cross with a censer in front of the throne:
Glory to the holy, consubstantial, life-giving, and indivisible Trinity always: now and ever, and unto ages of ages.
Reader: Amen.
And we begin the Six Psalms, listening with all silence and tenderness; the reading brother says with reverence and fear of God:
Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth, good will among men. (three times)
Lord, You will open my mouth and my mouth will declare Your praise. (twice)
Psalm 3
Lord, why have those who oppressed me multiplied? Many rise up against me, many say to my soul: there is no salvation for him in his God. But You, Lord, are my intercessor, my glory, and You lift up my head. With my voice I cried out to the Lord, and He heard me from His holy mountain. I fell asleep and slept; woke up, for the Lord will protect me. I will not be afraid of the multitude of people attacking me all around. Arise, Lord, save me, my God, for You have struck down all those who were hostile against me in vain, You have crushed the teeth of sinners. Salvation comes from the Lord and your blessing comes to your people.
I fell asleep and slept; woke up, for the Lord will protect me.
Psalm 37
Lord, do not reprove me of Your wrath and do not punish me with Your wrath. For Your arrows have pierced me, and You have established Your hand on me. There is no healing for my flesh from Your wrath, no peace to my bones from my sins, for my iniquities have gone beyond my head, like a heavy burden weighed down on me. My wounds stink and fester from my madness: I suffered and was bent to the end, I walked all day, lamenting. For my stomach is filled with mockery, and there is no healing for my flesh. I was crushed and humiliated beyond measure, I cried out from the groaning of my heart. Lord, all my desire is before You, and my groaning is not hidden from You. My heart is troubled, my strength has left me, and the light of my eyes—even that is no longer with me. My friends and my neighbors drew near and stood opposite me, and my neighbors stood at a distance, and those who sought my soul crowded in, and those who sought harm to me spoke empty words and plotted intrigues all day long. But I was like a deaf man who did not hear, and like a dumb man who did not open his mouth; and he became like a man who neither hears nor has reproof in his mouth. For I have trusted in You, O Lord: You will hear, O Lord my God. For I said: “Let not my enemies gloat over me!” For when my feet faltered, they magnified themselves over me. For I am ready for blows, and my suffering is always before me. For I will declare my iniquity and take care of my sin. But my enemies live, and have become stronger than I, and those who hate me unrighteously have multiplied. Those who repay me with evil for good slandered me, for I strived for good. Do not leave me, O Lord my God, do not depart from me, turn to help me, O Lord of my salvation!
Do not leave me, O Lord my God, do not depart from me, turn to help me, O Lord of my salvation!
Psalm 62
God, my God, I have been striving for You since dawn: my soul thirsts for You. How many times has my flesh yearned for You in a desert, impassable, and waterless land? So would I appear to You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory! For Thy mercy is better than life; my lips will praise you. So I will bless You in my life, in Your name I will lift up my hands. Let my soul be filled with fatness and oil, and my lips praise You with lips of joy. I remembered You on my bed, in the morning I thought about You, for You have become my helper, and under the shelter of Your wings I will rejoice. My soul clung to You, Your right hand supported me. And those who sought my soul in vain will descend into the underworld of the earth, will be given over to the power of the sword, and will become prey to foxes. The king will rejoice in God, everyone who swears by Him will be praised, for the lips of those who speak lies are stopped.
In the morning I thought about You, for You have become my helper, and under the shelter of Your wings I will rejoice. My soul clung to You, Your right hand supported me.
Glory, and now: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O God. (three times) Lord, have mercy. (three times) Glory, and now:
Psalm 87
Lord, God of my salvation, by day I cried, and in the night - before You, that my prayer may rise before Your face, incline Your ear to my prayer. For my soul was filled with evil, and my life approached hell; I was numbered with those who descended into the pit, I became like a helpless man, free among the dead; like the slain, sleeping in the grave, whom You will no longer remember, and they are rejected from Your hand. They laid me in the deepest ditch, in darkness and the shadow of death, Your wrath was established on me and You brought all Your waves upon me. You removed my acquaintances from me: they considered me an abomination to themselves; I was betrayed and could not leave. My eyes were weak from poverty: I cried out to You, Lord, all day long, I stretched out my hands to You. Will You work miracles for the dead? Or will the doctors resurrect them, and they will glorify You? Will anyone proclaim Your mercy in the grave, and Your truth in a perishing place? Will Thy wonders be known in darkness, and Thy righteousness in the land of oblivion? And I cried to You, Lord, and early in the morning my prayer will reach You. Why, Lord, do you push my soul away, turn away your face from me? I am poor and in labor from my youth; and, exalted, was humiliated and exhausted. Your anger has passed over me, Your fears have troubled me, they surround me like water all day long, they have embraced me all together. You removed my friend and neighbor and my acquaintances from me because of suffering.
Lord, God of my salvation, by day I cried, and in the night - before You, that my prayer may rise before Your face, incline Your ear to my prayer.
Psalm 102
Bless the Lord, my soul, and my whole being is His holy name. Bless the Lord, my soul, and do not forget all His rewards: He forgives all your iniquities, heals all your ailments, delivers your life from destruction, crowns you with mercy and bounty, fulfills your desires with good things - your youth will be renewed like an eagle’s. The Lord shows mercy and judgment to all those who are offended. He revealed His ways to Moses, and His desires to the children of Israel. The Lord is generous and merciful, long-suffering and abundantly merciful, he is not completely angry and is not forever indignant. He did not deal with us according to our iniquities, nor did He reward us according to our sins, for, according to the height of heaven from the earth, the Lord established His mercy towards those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, He removed our iniquities from us. Just as the father has mercy on his sons, the Lord has mercy on those who fear Him, for He knows our composition, He remembers that we are dust. Man is like the grass of his days, like the flower of the field, so he will fade, for the breath has ceased in him - and he will no longer be, and he will no longer recognize his place. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness is on the sons of sons, who keep His covenant and remember His commandments to do them. The Lord has prepared His throne in heaven, and His Kingdom rules over all. Bless the Lord, all His angels, mighty in might, doing His word, as soon as they hear the voice of His words. Bless the Lord, all His armies, all His servants, you who do His will. Bless the Lord, all His creatures, in every place of His dominion. Bless the Lord, my soul!
In every place of His dominion. Bless the Lord, my soul!
Psalm 142
Lord, hear my prayer, heed my prayer in Thy truth, hear me in Thy righteousness, and do not enter into judgment with Thy servant, for no one living will be justified before You. For the enemy began to persecute my soul, brought my life down to the ground, and planted me in darkness, as those who had died from eternity. And my spirit was sad within me, my heart was troubled within me. I remembered the days of old, I thought about all Your works, I meditated on the creations of Your hands. I have stretched out my hands to You; my soul before You is like a dry land. Hear me quickly, O Lord, my spirit is faint: do not turn Your face away from me, and let me not be like those who go down into the pit. Let me hear Your mercy early in the morning, for I trust in You; Open to me, Lord, the path along which I should go, for I have lifted up my soul to You. Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord, for I have fled to You. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your good Spirit will lead me to the land of righteousness. For the sake of Your name, Lord, You will revive me, according to Your righteousness You will bring my soul out of sorrow, and by Your mercy You will destroy my enemies, and destroy all those who oppress my soul, for I am Your servant.
Hear me, O Lord, in Your righteousness and do not enter into judgment with Your servant. Hear me, O Lord, in Your righteousness and do not enter into judgment with Your servant. Your good Spirit will lead me to the land of righteousness.
Glory, and now: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O God. (three times)
Then the Great Litany and sing “God is Lord:” in the voice of the troparion of the day:
God is Lord, and He has appeared to us; Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. (four times)
Verse 1: Glorify the Lord, for He is good, for His lovingkindness endures forever.
Verse 2: They surrounded me and surrounded me, but I resisted them in the name of the Lord.
Verse 3: I will not die, but will live and declare the works of the Lord.
Verse 4: The stone that the builders rejected, it was found at the head of the corner: it was from the Lord, and it was wonderful in our eyes. Ps 117:27A, 26A, 1, 11, 17, 22–23
Then the troparion of the feast is sung twice; “Glory, and now”; Theotokos of the same tone.
During Great Lent, from Monday to Friday, we sing “Alleluia” three times in the tone of the week with the following verses:
Verse 1: From the night to the dawn, my spirit longs for You, O God, for Your commandments are light on earth.
Verse 2: Learn righteousness, you who live on the earth.
Verse 3: Jealousy will come upon an uneducated people.
Verse 4: Add more troubles to them, O Lord, add more troubles to the glorious ones of the earth. Isaiah 26:9, 11b, 15
And we sing the Trinity troparia of the voice of the week. Let it be known what is said at the end of all the threefold eight voices:
On Monday at the first threefold say this: By the intercession of Your incorporeal Ones, have mercy on us.
On Tuesday: Through the prayers of Thy Forerunner, have mercy on us.
Wednesday and Friday: By the power of Your Cross, save us, Lord.
On Thursday: Through the prayers of Your holy Apostles and St. Nicholas, have mercy on us.
And for the other two ternaries, speak as it is written at the end of them.
Hymns to the Trinity
Tone 1
By material images of disembodied forces / raised to spiritual and immaterial knowledge, / and with the trisagion hymn accepting / the radiance of the One who exists in the three Persons of the Divine, / like the Cherubim, let us cry out to the One God: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, our God:”
Glory: With all the heavenly powers, / in the Highest let us cry out to Him who lives like the Cherubim, / singing the thrice-holy praise: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, our God, through the prayers of all Your saints, have mercy on us!”
And now: Having risen from sleep, we fall to You, O Good One, / and we proclaim an angelic song to You, O Mighty One: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!”
Tone 2
Imitating the Highest Powers, we, the earthly ones, / bring a victorious song to You, O Good One: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God:”
Glory: Uncreated nature, Creator of all, / open our lips, so that we may proclaim Your praise, crying out: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, / through the prayers of all Your saints, have mercy on us!”
And now: You raised me from bed and from sleep, O Lord! / Enlighten my mind and heart, / and open my lips, / to sing to You, Holy Trinity: / “Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!”
Tone 3
The Trinity is consubstantial and indivisible, / Unity in three and equally eternal Persons! / To you as God we proclaim the angelic song: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God:”
Glory: the Father without beginning, the Son without beginning, / the co-eternal Spirit - the one Godhead, / let us glorify boldly like the Cherubim, exclaiming: / “Holy, Holy, Holy art Thou, O God, / through the prayers of all Thy saints, have mercy on us!”
And now: Suddenly the Judge will come, / and everyone’s deeds will be revealed. / But let us exclaim with fear at midnight: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!”
Tone 4
We, mortals, dare to offer the song of Your immaterial servants, shouting: “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God:”
Glory: Now, like the regiments of Angels in heaven, / and we, people standing with fear on the earth, / bring a victorious song to You, Good One: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, / through the prayers of all Your saints, have mercy on us!”
And now: Thy Beginningless Father, / and Thee, Christ God, / and Thy All-Holy Spirit, / daring to glorify, as the Cherubim cry: / “Holy, Holy, Holy Thou, O God, / through the prayers of the Theotokos, have mercy on us!
Tone 5
A time for singing and an hour for prayer; / let us earnestly cry out to You, the One God: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God:”
Glory: Daring to depict Your immaterial armies, / the beginningless Trinity, / with unworthy lips we cry to You: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, / through the prayers of all Your saints, have mercy on us!”
And now: You who were placed in the virgin womb, / and did not leave the bosom of the Father, / with the Angels, accept us, O Christ our God, who cry to You: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!”
Tone 6
The Cherubim, standing with fear, / the Seraphim, amazed with trepidation, / bring the trisagion hymn with an incessant voice; / We, sinners, cry out with them: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God:”
Glory: With disembodied lips, incessant praises, / the six-winged ones sing the thrice-holy hymn to Thee, our God; / and we, the earthly, with unworthy lips / send up praise to You: / “Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, / through the prayers of all Your saints, have mercy on us!”
And now: Let us glorify the Triple Unity of the Divine / in unfused unity, / and let us cry out the angelic song: / “Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!”
Tone 7
The Cherubim sing of Your highest power, / and the Angels worship Your divine glory, / - accept us earthly too, / with unworthy lips we send forth praise to You: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God:”
Glory: Like a sleepy soul, having put aside laziness, / having awakened, show your correction to the Judge, / and cry out with fear: / “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, / through the prayers of all Your saints, have mercy on us!”
And now: To the unapproachable Divinity, the Trinity in Unity, / sending up the thrice-holy praise of the Seraphim, / with fear we cry: / “Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!”
Tone 8
Directing our hearts to heaven, / we will imitate the angelic order, / and with fear we will fall to the Incorruptible One, / proclaiming victorious praise: / “Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God:”
Glory: Not daring to look at You, the Cherubim, / flying, lift up with an exclamation / the song of the thrice-holy God-inspired voice; / with them we also cry out to You: / “Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, / through the prayers of all Your saints, have mercy on us!”
And now: Bent over from the multitude of our sins, / and not daring to look at Your height, / bowed with soul and body, / with the Angels we proclaim a song to You: / “Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, / through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!”
If there is a service for the repose, we sing “Alleluia” (3) in the voice of the troparion, with the verses:
Verse 1: Blessed are those whom You have chosen and brought near, O Lord.
Verse 2: They are remembered for generations and generations.
Verse 3: Their souls will be found among good things. Wed. Ps 64:5; 101:13; 24:13
And the troparion for the repose (2); Glory, and now: Theotokos.
After the troparia we read 2 or 3 kathismas according to the rules; after each there is a small litany with prayer and sedalny. Then, if the polyeleos are not sung, we read Psalm 50.
If there is a feast, then after two kathismas the polyeleos are sung - psalms 134 and 135 (or their individual verses), with the refrain “Alleluia”.
Psalm 134
Praise the name of the Lord, praise the Lord, O servants, who stand in the temple of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God. Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing to His name, for it is sweet! For the Lord chose Jacob for Himself, Israel for His own. For I knew that the Lord is great, and our Lord is above all gods. The Lord created everything that He wanted in heaven and on earth, in the seas and in all the abysses. He raises clouds from the ends of the earth, creates lightning in the rain, brings out the winds from His storehouses. He smote the firstborn of Egypt, from man to beast; He sent signs and wonders among you, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants. He smote many nations and slew mighty kings: Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan, and gave their land for an inheritance, for an inheritance to Israel his people. Lord, Your name endures forever, and Your memory endures forever and ever. For the Lord will judge His people and have mercy on His servants. The idols of the pagans are silver and gold, the work of human hands: they have lips and do not speak, they have eyes and do not see, they have ears and do not hear, for there is no breath in their mouths. Let those who make them and all who trust in them be like them! House of Israel, bless the Lord; house of Aaron, bless the Lord; house of Levi, bless the Lord; you who fear the Lord, bless the Lord! Blessed be the Lord of Zion, who dwelleth in Jerusalem!
Psalm 135
Glorify the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever; glorify the God of gods, for His mercy endures forever; glorify the Lord of lords, for His mercy endures forever. One who works great wonders, for His mercy endures forever, who made the heavens in wisdom, for His mercy endures forever, who established the earth on the waters, for His mercy endures forever. One, who created two great lights, for His mercy endures forever: the sun to rule the day, for His mercy endures forever, the moon and stars to rule the night, for His mercy endures forever. He who smote Egypt with its firstborn, for His mercy endures forever, and who brought Israel out from among them, for His mercy endures forever, with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, for His mercy endures forever. Who divided the Red Sea in two, for His mercy endures forever, and brought Israel through the midst of it, for His mercy endures forever, and shook off Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea, for His mercy endures forever. Who led His people through the wilderness, for His mercy endures forever, who struck down great kings, for His mercy endures forever, and who slew mighty kings, for His mercy endures forever, Sihon king of the Amorites, for His mercy endures forever, and Og king of Bashan, for His mercy endures forever, and who gave their land for an inheritance, for His mercy endures forever, for an inheritance to Israel His servant, for His mercy endures forever. For in our humiliation the Lord remembered us, for His mercy endures forever, and He delivered us from our enemies, for His mercy endures forever. He gives food to all flesh, for His mercy endures forever; glorify the God of heaven, for His mercy endures forever.
In the week of the Prodigal Son, Meat and Cheese, after the usual two polyeleos psalms we add a third:
Psalm 136
By the rivers of Babylon we sat down and wept when we remembered Zion. Hallelujah. We hung our organs on the willows in the middle of it. Hallelujah. For there those who captivated us asked us about the words of the songs, and those who took us away asked us about the singing. Hallelujah. “Sing to us from the songs of Zion.” Hallelujah. How can we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land? Hallelujah. If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand be forgotten! Hallelujah. Let my tongue stick to my throat if I do not remember you, if I do not place Jerusalem at the very beginning of my joy. Hallelujah. Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom on the day of Jerusalem, saying: “Destroy, destroy to its foundations.” Hallelujah. Wretched daughter of Babylon, blessed is he who will repay you your retribution, which you have repaid us. Hallelujah. Blessed is he who seizes and dashes your little ones against the stone. Hallelujah.
Then on feasts a magnification is sung with the verses of a chosen psalm, and on Sunday -
Troparion “for the Immaculates”, tone 5
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your commandments.
The angelic host was amazed, / seeing You, Savior, numbered among the dead, / but crushing the power of death, / and raising Adam with You, / and freeing everyone from hell.
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your commandments.
“Why do you dilute the ointment with tears of compassion, / O disciples?” / - The angel shining in the tomb called out to the myrrh-bearers, / - “Look around the tomb and know / that the Savior has risen from the tomb!”
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your commandments.
Early in the morning the myrrh-bearers hastened to Thy tomb, weeping. / But an Angel appeared before them and proclaimed: / “The time of mourning is over, do not cry / but announce the resurrection to the Apostles.”
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your commandments.
The myrrh-bearing women, who came in peace / to Your tomb, O Savior, wept, / while the Angel proclaimed to them: / “Why do you count the living among the dead? / After all, like God, He rose from the grave.”
Glory, Trinity: Let us adore the Father, / and His Son, and the Holy Spirit, / the holy Trinity in one being, / with the Seraphim crying out: / “Holy, Holy, Holy art Thou, Lord.”
And now, the Mother of God: Having given birth to the Giver of Life, / You, Virgin, delivered Adam from sin, / but gave Eve joy instead of sorrow; / He who had fallen away from life was directed to it / from You by God and Man incarnate.
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, glory to You, O God. (three times)
Deacon: Again and again:
Exclamation: For blessed is Thy all-holy name, and glorified is Thy Kingdom, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, now and always, and unto the ages of ages.
Chorus: Amen.
Sessional Hymn of the feast (on Sunday “hypakoe in the appointed tone). Next, at Sunday Matins, the “State” antiphons of the current tone are sung.
On feasts
We always sing 1 antiphon 4 voices:
Since my youth, many passions have been at war with me; / but protect and save me yourself, / my Savior.
You who hate Zion, be ashamed of the Lord: / for you will be dried up like grass by fire.
Glory, and now: by the Holy Spirit every soul is quickened / and exalted by purification, / in the sacred mystery is enlightened by the Trinity.
Deacon: Let us listen.
Priest: Peace to all.
We: And to your spirit.

Sunday hymn after the Gospel
Having seen the Resurrection of Christ, / let us worship the Holy Lord Jesus, / the only sinless one. / We worship Your Cross, O Christ, / and we sing and glorify Your Holy Resurrection, / for You are our God, / we know no other but You, / we call on Your name. / Come, all you faithful, / let us worship the holy resurrection of Christ, / for behold, joy has come through the Cross / to the whole world. / Always blessing the Lord, / we sing of His resurrection, / for He, having endured crucifixion, / crushed death through death.
Psalm 50
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy and according to the multitude of Your mercies, blot out my iniquity; completely wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me. I have sinned against You, the One, and done evil before You, so that you may be justified in Your words and win if they enter into court with You. For behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. For behold, You have loved the truth; You have revealed to me the hidden and secret things of Your wisdom. You will sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I will become whiter than snow; let me hear joy and gladness, and my humiliated bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew the Right Spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with the Sovereign Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, You will open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You had desired sacrifice, I would have given it; you will not be pleased with burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit; God will not despise a contrite and humble heart. Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be erected; then You will graciously accept the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and burnt offerings, and then they will lay bulls on Your altar.
On Sunday
Glory: Through the prayers of the Apostles, / Merciful One, blot out / the multitude of our sins.
And now: Through the prayers of the Mother of God, / Merciful One, blot out / the multitude of our sins.
Have mercy on me, O God, / according to Your great mercy / and according to the multitude of Your compassions / blot out my iniquity.
Jesus rose from the grave, / as he predicted, / giving us eternal life / and great mercy.
On the feasts of saints
Glory: Through the prayers of (Apostle, martyr, saint: his name), Merciful One, blot out the multitude of our sins.
And now: Through the prayers of the Mother of God: and Have mercy on me, O God:
And the stichera of the feast.
On the week of the Publican and the Pharisee and until the fifth week of Great Lent, after the 50th Psalm, we sing:
Troparions of repentance
Glory, tone 8: Open the gates of repentance / to me, Giver of life, / for since dawn my spirit has been striving / to Thy holy temple, / bearing the entire defiled bodily temple. / But You, as a compassionate one, cleanse him / with Your merciful mercy.
And now, Mother of God: Guide me on the path of salvation / guide me, Mother of God / for I have stained my soul with shameful sins / and frivolously wasted my whole life. / But through Your prayers / deliver me from all uncleanness.
Also, tone 6: Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy / and according to the multitude of Your compassions blot out my iniquity.
Reflecting on the many grave sins I have committed, / I, unfortunate one, tremble before the terrible day of judgment. / But, hoping for the mercy of Your mercy, / like David I cry to You: / “Have mercy on me, O God, / according to Your great mercy!”
Next prayer: Save, O God, Your people:
Chorus: Lord, have mercy. (12 times)
Exclamation: By the mercy, and bounties, and love for mankind of Your only begotten Son, with whom You are blessed, with Your all-holy, and good, and life-giving Spirit, now and always, and unto the ages of ages.
Chorus: Amen.
And we begin the canon. On the 9th song of the canon we sing:
Ode of the Theotokos
My soul magnifies the Lord, / and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
With the highest honor of the Cherubim / and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim, / who virginally gave birth to God the Word, / the true Mother of God - We magnify You._ - we repeat after each verse._
That He looked upon the humility of His Servant; / for from now on all generations will call Me blessed.
That the Mighty One has done great things for Me, / and holy is His name, / and His mercy throughout all generations of generations is upon those who fear Him.
He has done mighty things with His hand, / He has scattered the arrogant in the thoughts of their hearts.
He deposed the rulers from their thrones / and exalted the humble, filled the hungry with good things / and sent away the rich with nothing.
He supported His servant Israel, / remembering mercy, / as He said to our fathers, / to Abraham and his seed forever. Luke 1:46–55
And 9th song of the canon. If there is no feast, after the chaos we eat It is worthy to eat:
On Sunday the deacon exclaims, and the choir repeats three times:
Holy is the Lord our God. (three times)
Verse: For holy is the Lord our God.
Verse: Our God is above all people.
And Sunday exapostilary.
Then on feasts we begin to sing in response to the appointed tone:
Psalms of Praise (148 – 150)
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from heaven, praise Him in the highest. A song befits you, O God. Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His armies. A song befits you, O God.
And further: Praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him, all stars and light. Praise Him, O heavens of heavens, and waters that are above the heavens. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He spoke and they came into being, He commanded and they were created. He set them up forever and ever, he gave the order - and it will not pass away. Praise the Lord from the earth: dragons and all deeps, fire, hail, snow, ice, stormy winds, those who do His word, mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars, wild animals and all livestock, reptiles and winged birds, kings of the earth and all nations, princes and all the judges of the earth, young men and virgins, old and young, let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name is exalted. one: praise to Him on earth and in heaven. And He will exalt the horn of His people: a song to all His saints, to the children of Israel, to the people who draw near to Him.
Sing a new song to the Lord; praise be to Him in the assembly of the saints. Let Israel rejoice in Him who created it, and let the sons of Zion rejoice in Their King: let them praise His name in the round dance, on the tympanum and on the psaltery, and let them play for Him, for the Lord delights in His people and exalts the meek to salvation. The saints will be praised in glory and rejoice on their beds: praises to God in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, to bring about vengeance among the nations, reproof among the nations, to bind their kings with chains and their glorious ones with iron shackles.
Here the stichera begin:
On 6: Carry out the prescribed judgment among them; / This glory will be to all His saints.
Stichera
Praise God in His saints, / Praise Him in the firmament of His power.
Stichera
On 4: Praise Him for His might, / praise Him according to the abundance of His greatness.
Stichera
Praise Him with the sound of a trumpet, / Praise Him with the psaltery and the harp.
Stichera
Praise Him on the tympanum and in the round dance, / praise Him on the strings and the organ.
Stichera
Praise Him with harmonious cymbals, praise Him with ringing cymbals. / Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Stichera

Verse: Arise, O Lord my God, may Thy hand be exalted, / do not forget Thy poor to the end. Psalm 9:33
Stichera
Verse: I will praise You, O Lord, with all my heart, / I will proclaim all Your wonders. Ps 9:2
Glory: Stichera
And now, Mother of God, tone 2
Blessed are You, Virgin Mother of God, / for Hell was captivated by You who became incarnate, / Adam was returned from it, / the curse lost its power, / Eve was freed, death was put to death, / and we were filled with life. / Therefore, chanting, we cry: / “Blessed is Christ God, who was so favored, glory to Thee!”
Priest: Glory to You, who showed us the light.
