Daily Prayer of St. Philaret of Moscow

A prayer of total surrender and trust in God's will.

O Lord, I know not what I should ask of Thee. Thou alone knowest what are my true needs. Thou lovest me more than I myself know how to love.

O Father, grant to Thy servant that which I myself know not how to ask. I dare not ask for either a cross or consolation; I only stand before Thee. My heart is open to Thee; Thou seest my needs of which I myself am not aware. Behold and do according to Thy mercy. Smite and heal, cast down and raise me up. I silence myself and worship Thy holy will and Thy judgments which are past my understanding.

I offer myself as a sacrifice to Thee. I have no other desire than to fulfill Thy will. Teach me to pray. Pray Thou Thyself within me. Amen.
