Supplicatory Canon to Our Lord Jesus Christ
Tone 2. Ode 1
Irmos, tone 2: Once in the depths / the entire army of Pharaoh was destroyed by superior power, / but the incarnate Word destroyed evil sin, - / glorified Lord; / for He is gloriously glorified.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Sweetest Jesus Christ, / long-suffering Jesus, / heal the wounds of my soul, O Jesus, / and gladden my heart, O most merciful One. / I pray You, Jesus my Savior: / save me, that I may magnify You.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Sweetest Jesus Christ, Jesus, / open the door of repentance for me, O lover of mankind, / and accept me, as I fall to You, / and earnestly ask, Jesus my Savior, / for forgiveness of sins.
Glory: Sweetest Jesus Christ, Jesus, / pluck me from the hand of the flattering Belial, O Jesus, / and let me stand on the right side of Your glory, / Jesus my Savior, / delivering me from the fate of those on the left.
And now: O Lady, who gave birth to Jesus our God, / pray for Your unworthy servants, O Most Pure One, / that through Your prayers we who are defiled / may be delivered from torment, O undefiled one, / and may attain eternal glory.
Ode 3
Irmos: Having established me on the rock of faith, / You opened my mouth wide against my enemies, / for my spirit rejoiced, singing: / “There is no one holy like our God, / and no one is more righteous than You, O Lord!”
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Hear, O my lover of mankind, Thy servant / who cries out with contrition, / and deliver me, O Jesus, from condemnation and torment, / O thou who art long-suffering, / O sweetest and most merciful Jesus.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Raise up Thy servant, my Jesus, / falling down with tears, my Jesus, / and save, my Jesus, me, who repent, / and from hell, O Lord, deliver, / O most sweet and merciful Jesus.
Glory: The time, my Jesus, which you gave me, / I wasted in passions, my Jesus. / Therefore, I pray, my Jesus, do not reject me, / but call me to You, O Lord, / Sweetest Jesus, and save me.
And now: Virgin, who gave birth to my Jesus, / pray for deliverance from Gehenna, / the only Protection of the offended, / blessed by God, / and honor me, O All-Immaculate One, / with eternal life.
Sessional Hymn, tone 1
My Savior, Jesus, / who saved the prodigal son, / My Savior, Jesus, who mercifully accepted the harlot, / and now have mercy on me, O most merciful Jesus, / have pity, and save me, my benefactor in Jesus, / like Manasseh, my merciful Jesus, / for You alone are a lover of mankind.
Ode 4
Irmos: You came from the Virgin, not a messenger, / nor an Angel, but the Lord Himself in the flesh, / and saved all of me, a man. / Therefore I cry to You: / “Glory to Your power, O Lord!”
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Heal, my Jesus, the wounds of my soul, / My Jesus, I pray, / and pluck me, my merciful Jesus, / from the hand of the soul-destroying Belial and save me.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
I have sinned, my sweet and merciful Jesus! / My Jesus, save me, / who take refuge in Your protection, long-suffering Jesus, / and make me worthy of Your Kingdom.
Glory: No one has sinned, my Jesus, / as I, unfortunate one, have sinned; / but I fall to You, praying: / “My Jesus, save me, / and life, my Jesus, grant me an inheritance!”
And now: All-glorified One, who gave birth to Jesus the Lord, / pray to Him to deliver from torment / all who praise You, / and who call You the true Mother of God.
Ode 5
Irmos: Enlightenment of those lying in darkness, / salvation of the despairing, Christ my Savior! / I rush to You from dawn, King of the world, / enlighten me with Your radiance: / for besides You I know no other God.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
You are the enlightenment of my mind, O my Jesus; / You are the salvation of my despairing soul, O Savior. / Deliver me, my Jesus, from torment and Gehenna, as I cry: / “Save me, wretched as I am, O my Jesus Christ!”
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Completely defeated, my Jesus, / in dishonorable passions, I now cry: / You, my Jesus, stretched out your helping hand to me, / take me out of them, crying out: / “Save, my Jesus Christ, the unfortunate me!”
Glory: Straining my defiled mind, / My Jesus, I cry to You: / cleanse me from the filth of sins, / and deliver me, into the depths of malice, / from the ignorance that has slipped, / My Savior Jesus, and save me, I pray.
And now: the Maiden, / Mother of God, who gave birth to Jesus, begged Him / to save all Orthodox Christians, monks and laity, / and to deliver from Gehenna those who cry: / “Besides You, we know no firm protection!”
Ode 6
Irmos: Carried about in the abyss of sin, / I call upon the abyss of Thy incomprehensible mercy: / God, deliver me from destruction!
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
My Jesus, most merciful Christ, / accept me as I confess, O Lord, / about Jesus, and save me, / and pluck me from destruction, Jesus.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
My Jesus, no one else was a fornicator, / like me, passionate, / O Jesus, a lover of mankind; / but You, Jesus, save me.
Glory: My Jesus, the harlot and the prodigal son, / and Manasseh, and the publican, I have surpassed, / O my Jesus, by passion, and the thief, / Jesus, and the Ninevites.
And now: who gave birth to my Jesus Christ, / the Most Pure Virgin, alone alien to filth, / me, defiled, / now cleanse me with hyssop from your prayers.
Ode 7
Irmos: When they served the golden idol on the field of Deira, / Your three youths neglected the godless command; / and, thrown into the fire, but sprinkled with dew, they sang: / “Blessed are You, God of our fathers!”
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Christ Jesus, no one has sinned on earth since the beginning of time, / O my Jesus, as I, wretched and prodigal, have sinned. / Therefore, my Jesus, I cry to You: / have pity on me who sings: / “Blessed are You, God of our fathers!”
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Christ Jesus, in Thy fear / strengthen me, I cry, O my Jesus, / and guide me now to a quiet haven, / so that I, my merciful Jesus, / sing to You, the one being saved: / “Blessed are You, God of our fathers!”
Glory: Christ Jesus, thousands of times I, passionate, / promised You, O my Jesus, to repent, / but I lied, unfortunate one. / Therefore, my Jesus, I cry to You: / Enlighten my insensible soul, O Christ; / God of the fathers, blessed are You!
And now: Having given birth to Christ Jesus in a manner strange / and beyond nature, / pray to Him, O all-immaculate one, / to forgive all my sins against nature, O Maiden, that, saved, I may cry out: / “Blessed are You, who gave birth to God in the flesh!”
Ode 8
Irmos: He who descended into the fiery furnace / to the Jewish youths, / and turned the flame into dew, / sing praises, all creations, as the Lord / and exalt throughout all ages.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
I pray to you, my Jesus: / “As the harlot, my Jesus, / you delivered from many sins, / so deliver me, my Jesus Christ, / and cleanse my defiled soul, my Jesus!”
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Bowing down, O Jesus, before senseless pleasures, / I, the unfortunate one, appeared foolish, / and truly became like beasts with passions, / O Jesus, my Savior; / therefore, Jesus, deliver me from foolishness.
Glory: Having fallen, O Jesus, among soul-destroying thieves, / I have lost the garment, my Jesus, that was woven for me by God, / and now I lie covered with wounds; / pour oil and wine upon me, O my Christ.
And now: O Mary, Mother of God, who ineffably bore / Jesus Christ, my God! / Pray to Him unceasingly for the salvation of Your servants / and deliver from troubles those who sing Your praises, / O Virgin who knew not wedlock.
Ode 9
Irmos: From God God the Word, / with ineffable wisdom, who came to renew Adam, / through eating into the destruction of the miserably fallen, / from the Holy Virgin, ineffably incarnate for our sake, / we, the faithful, with one mind, magnify / in hymns.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
Manasseh, my Jesus, the tax collector, the harlot, / the prodigal son, my merciful Jesus, and the thief, / I have surpassed, my Jesus, / in shameful and indecent deeds, Jesus; / but You, my Jesus, hasten and save me.
Sweetest Jesus, save me.
All those from Adam, my Jesus, who have sinned, I, the unfortunate one, / before the law and under the law, my Jesus, / and according to the law and the sending of grace, my Jesus, / have surpassed the passions of the ill-fated: / but You, my Jesus, in ways known to You, save me.
Glory: May I not be separated, O my Jesus, / from Thy ineffable glory, / may I not receive a lot, O Jesus, / of those who are on Your left, sweetest Jesus, / but You have joined me to Your sheep standing on the right, / My Christ Jesus, / bring me into rest, as the merciful.
And now: Jesus, whom You bore, O Mother of God, / the only Virgin Mary who did not know a husband, / propitiate Him, pure, as Your Son and Creator, / deliver those who come running to You / from temptations and troubles, and the fire of the future.
Exapostilarion
Jesus, Giver of wisdom and understanding, / Guide of the poor, Protector of orphans, Physician of the sick, / heal and enlighten my heart, O Jesus, / which is covered with the wounds of sin and corrupted by the passions; / O Jesus, save me.
Theotokos: With the radiance, Virgin, of the Light that shone from You, / illuminate my mind, enlighten my heart, / dispelling the darkness of sin, / and driving away the darkness of my laziness.
Prayer to our Lord Jesus Christ
Master Lord Jesus Christ, our God, through Your ineffable love for mankind, at the end of the ages, clothed in flesh from the Ever-Virgin Mary! We glorify Your saving providence for us, we, Your servants, Master; We sing praises to You, for through You we have come to know the Father; We bless You, through Whom the Holy Spirit came into the world. We worship Your Most Pure Mother in the flesh, who ministered to this terrible sacrament. We praise Your Angelic choirs as singers and ministers of Your greatness. We call the Baptist John the Baptist, who baptized You, O Lord, blessed. We also honor the prophets who foretold You. We glorify Your Apostles and saints, we extol Your martyrs, we glorify Your saints, we worship Your saints, and we honor all Your righteous ones. We, Thy servants, encourage such a great and innumerable host of the Divine to pray to You, the all-merciful God, and therefore we ask forgiveness of our sins. Grant it to us for the sake of all Your Saints, or rather, for the sake of Your holy bounties, for You are blessed forever. Amen.
Another Prayer
To You, Lord, the Only Good One who does not remember evil, I confess my sins. I fall to You, unworthy, crying out: “I have sinned, Lord, I have sinned and am not worthy to look at the heights of heaven because of the multitude of my iniquities.” But, my Lord, my Lord, grant me tears of tenderness, O One Good and Merciful, so that with them I may beg You and be cleansed before the end from all sin. For I will have to go through a terrible and formidable place after being separated from my body, and many gloomy and inhuman demons will meet me, and there will be no one to help: neither a companion nor a deliverer. Therefore, I fall to Your goodness: do not betray me to my offenders, and may my enemies not boast about me, Good Lord, and may they not say: “You have fallen into our hands and been betrayed to us.” No, Lord, do not forget Your mercies and do not repay me according to my iniquities, and do not turn Your face away from me. But You enlighten me, Lord, only with mercy and compassion. Let my enemy not rejoice over me, but extinguish his threats against me and abolish all his actions. Grant me an impeccable path to You, Good Lord, because even though I have sinned, I did not flee to another physician and did not stretch out my hand to a foreign god. Do not reject my prayer, but hear me according to Your goodness and strengthen my heart with Your fear, and may Your grace be upon me, Lord, like a fire that burns unclean thoughts in me. For You, Lord, are the Light, the highest of all light; Joy, beyond all joy; Peace, beyond all peace; True life and salvation that endures forever and ever. Amen.
