Prayers for the Sick
Troparion, Tone 4
O Christ, Who alone art our Defender, visit from on high Thy suffering servants , and deliver them from sickness and grievous pains. Raise them up that they may sing to Thee and praise Thee without ceasing, through the prayers of the Theotokos, O Thou Who alone lovest mankind.
Kontakion, Tone 2
As once Thou didst raise up, O Savior, the mother-in-law of Peter and the paralytic carried on his bed, so now, O Merciful One, visit and heal Thy suffering servants , who lie on the bed of sickness and are smitten with a mortal wound; for Thou alone hast borne the infirmities and diseases of our race, and all things are possible to Thee, O Most Merciful One.
Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity, the Theotokos, the Saints and Angels
O Most Merciful God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, worshipped and glorified in the Undivided Trinity, look with compassion upon Thy servants , held fast by sickness. Forgive them all their transgressions; grant them healing from sickness; restore to them health and bodily strength; grant them a long and blessed life, Thy worldly and heavenly blessings, that they, together with us, may offer grateful prayers to Thee, our All-generous God and Creator. Most Holy Theotokos, by thine all-powerful intercession help me to entreat Thy Son, my God, for the healing of , servants of God. All ye saints and angels of the Lord, pray to God for His ailing servants . Amen.
Prayer 1 to the Lord
O Master Almighty, Holy King, Who dost chastise yet dost not slay, Who dost sustain those who fall and raise up those cast down, Who dost heal the bodily afflictions of mankind, we pray to Thee, our God: visit with Thy mercy Thy servants who are infirm; forgive them every transgression, voluntary and involuntary. Yea, O Lord, send down from heaven Thy healing power; touch their bodies, quench the fever, still the suffering, and heal every infirmity lurking within them. Be the physician of Thy servants and raise them from the bed of sickness and from the couch of affliction, whole and perfect; grant them to Thy Church, well-pleasing and doing Thy will. For it is Thine to show mercy and to save us, O our God, and unto Thee we ascribe glory, to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Prayer 2 to the Lord
O Master Almighty, Physician of our souls and bodies, Who dost humble and exalt, Who dost chastise and heal again: visit Thy servants who are infirm, and heal them, raising them from their beds of sickness. Rebuke the spirit of infirmity, remove from them every wound, every disease, and if there be in them any sin or iniquity, remit, forgive, and pardon it for the sake of Thy love for mankind. Yea, O Lord, have compassion on Thy creatures in Christ Jesus our Lord, with Whom Thou art blessed, together with Thy Most Holy, Good, and Life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
